About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surveillance Analyst to join our Compliance and Risk team within Centrica Energy. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the integrity of our energy trading operations by identifying and mitigating potential risks.

As a Surveillance Analyst, you will be responsible for performing daily reviews of alerts generated across trade and order surveillance, as well as communicating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution of any issues. You will also support the annual and trigger-based MAR Assessment and contribute to the development of management information on all types of surveillance.

Key responsibilities will include:
  1. Performing daily reviews of alerts generated across trade and order surveillance.
  2. Supporting the annual and trigger-based MAR Assessment.
  3. Supporting with the preparation of management information on all types of surveillance.
  4. Contributing towards an effective surveillance program by making recommendations for system changes and calibration improvements to better detect market manipulation.
  5. Supporting senior members of the team with investigations and activity deep dives.


About You

We are looking for an experienced Compliance or Surveillance professional who has a strong understanding of key regulations, including MAR, REMIT, EMIR, MIFID and others. You will have a proven track record of applying this knowledge in the detection of market abuse and have some knowledge and experience of working with vendor supplied monitoring and surveillance tools. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Key skills and qualifications include:
  1. 3+ years' experience gained within a compliance or surveillance function, ideally with exposure to trade surveillance and/or communications monitoring.
  2. Knowledge of key regulations, including MAR, REMIT, EMIR, MIFID and others.
  3. Ability to apply this knowledge in the detection of market abuse.
  4. Some knowledge and experience of working with vendor supplied monitoring and surveillance tools.
  5. Demonstrate good ethics and integrity.
  6. Experienced user of commonly used MS Office applications i.e. Excel, Word etc.
  7. User of BI tools (MS PowerBI) with ability to create and analyse data sets.
