About the Job

We are seeking a self-motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at DTU Electro, working on a cutting-edge project titled 'High-efficiency high-power laser beaming in-space systems based on SiC (RePowerSiC)'. Funded by the EIC pathfinder challenge, this project aims to push the boundaries of silicon carbide optoelectronics.

As part of our wide bandgap semiconductor photonics group, led by Associate Professor Haiyan Ou, you will contribute to pioneering advancements in this burgeoning field. With your expertise, we anticipate significant impact on our research outcomes.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Contribute to the development of novel ultra-efficient SiC-laser power converters for in-space energy transmission.
  • Design, fabricate, characterize, and optimize antireflection layers for SiC.
  • Orientate the fabrication process to achieve low series resistance and high-efficiency SiC laser power converters.
  • Build an experimental setup to characterize the efficiency of SiC laser power converters.
  • Theorize and experimentally explore the high power density limit in SiC laser power converters.
  • Interact actively with other group members and European partners.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in nano/micro fabrication, experimental or theoretical photonics, electronics, semiconductor physics, or solid-state physics.
  • Interest in supervising students and a proven track record of relevant research.
