Salary

The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary, commensurate with their qualifications and experience. According to the Danish Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State, the monthly salary for a PhD student starts at approximately $4,400 USD (April 2024-level) plus 17.1% pension. Over the three-year period, the work obligation can include teaching and research dissemination without additional pay.

Job Description

The successful applicant will become part of the GREENWATCH project, a European Research Council Advanced Grant-funded initiative examining the potentials and challenges of employing the Internet of Things (IoT) as a communication system monitoring the effects of human activities on Earth's ecosystems. As part of this project, the researcher will undertake quantitative content analyses and qualitative discourse studies of advertising campaigns and other strategic communication by IoT companies in China, Europe, and the United States.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, applicants must hold a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent, have submitted a master's thesis for pre-approval at the time of application, and possess specific theoretical and methodological competences in digital media and communication research. A strong background in combining quantitative and qualitative studies of media and communication is highly desirable. Fluency in written and spoken academic English, as well as Mandarin, is also required.
