Bio Ontology Architect

We are seeking a seasoned Bio Ontology Architect to join our innovative team at Novo Nordisk.

In this pivotal role, you will leverage your profound knowledge of Bio-Ontologies and ontology pipelines to construct robust, scalable ontology frameworks. Your expertise will play a critical role in the development of ontologies that drive cutting-edge research and data management initiatives.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, bringing your deep understanding of OWL, SKOS, and other W3C standards to the forefront. Your work will contribute to the harmonization of complex datasets and enhance semantic interoperability across our organization.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Designing and building ontology pipelines that support the development and integration of application ontologies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Utilizing your extensive knowledge of Bio Ontologies to create and refine domain-specific ontologies that meet our research and data management needs.
• Employing OWL, SKOS, and other relevant W3C standards to ensure that all ontological models adhere to industry best practices for semantic web technologies.
• Continuously improving and optimizing ontology development processes, ensuring that the ontology pipelines are efficient, scalable, and maintainable.
• Oversseeing the quality assurance of ontological models, including validation, consistency checks, and version control, to maintain the integrity and usability of the ontologies.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• Extensive hands-on experience in Bio Ontologies, preferably with OBO Foundry.
• A solid background in biological or biomedical sciences, with the ability to understand and model complex biological concepts.
• An in-depth understanding of OWL, SKOS, and other relevant W3C standards for ontology development.
• Proficient experience in using ontology development tools such as Protégé, Topbraid, ROBOT, and other relevant software for ontology editing and management.
