Kongens Lyngby, Lyngby-Tårbæk Kommune, Denmark DTU - Technical University of Denmark Full time
Job Description:

This research position is a unique opportunity to explore the complex relationships between sea ice, phytoplankton, and zooplankton in the Arctic ocean. As a researcher in this field, you will be working closely with an international team of experts to investigate the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems.

The primary tasks of this position include analyzing existing data and collecting new data to understand the functional diversity of phyto- and zooplankton as a function of sea ice conditions and freshwater distributions in the Arctic. Additionally, you will experimentally investigate the environmental tolerances of Arctic copepods, focusing on under-studied small species. The project also involves investigating changes in primary production and food web efficiency in relation to freshwater distribution in the Davis Strait.

To succeed in this role, you must have a two-year master's degree or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree within natural sciences. You should also have some experience in field or laboratory work within biological oceanography, preferably plankton. Modelling and/or technical skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing data and lead new data collection to investigate the functional diversity of phyto- and zooplankton.
  • Experimentally investigate the environmental tolerances of Arctic copepods.
  • Investigate changes in primary production and food web efficiency.
