Electrical Backup Systems Design Engineer

Vestas, a leading wind turbine technology company, is seeking an experienced Electrical Backup Systems Design Engineer to drive innovative solutions in wind turbine technology. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing cutting-edge electrical backup systems.

About Vestas

Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), the Control Hardware team ensures the effective functioning and coordination of the turbines' Low-Voltage systems and control systems. Our daily work involves close collaboration with key stakeholders, as we support all turbine systems across both onshore and offshore projects.

Job Description

As an Electrical Backup Systems Design Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to manage and provide innovative solutions for the backup system. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality design solutions within specified timeframes and budgets, while continuously enhancing efficiency
  • Defining test & validation needed to qualify a design
  • Creating designs in compliance with Vestas' stage gate model, encompassing all phases from early concept development to detailed design, verification, and implementation in labs and wind turbines
  • Working closely with global R&D teams and external suppliers to ensure cohesive project development
  • Providing support to Service Technicians, assisting with troubleshooting and repairs via phone, ticketing system, or on-site visits
  • Evaluating performance problems, performing root cause analysis, and offering recommendations to the Service organization
  • Identifying, developing, and validating technical improvement measures as part of the continuous improvement process
  • Responding to technical inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders
Requirements

Your qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering, marine engineering, or similar
  • Proficient in low voltage electrical design
  • Experience in designing electrical backup systems
  • Good understanding of low voltage components and system testing
  • Familiarity with IEC and UL standards
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Valid driving license from Denmark or Europe

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is between €60,000 and €90,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Vestas offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, pension plan, and paid vacation time.
