Academic Position in Vadose Zone Hydrology and Soil Physics

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified Professor in Soil and Water Transport Research to join our team at Aarhus University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in vadose zone hydrology and soil physics, with a proven track record of research and teaching experience.
The Professor will be responsible for conducting high-quality research, teaching and supervising students, and contributing to the development of our academic field. The ideal candidate will have extensive international research collaborations, experience in attracting external research funding, and a strong ability to communicate their research to both academic and non-academic audiences.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of our research environment, working closely with colleagues to advance our understanding of soil physics and hydrological processes. We offer a dynamic and inclusive workplace, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research of high international quality, including publication in top international journals and communication of research in national and international academic networks
- Teach, supervise, and examine BSc, MSc, and PhD students, as well as contribute to the development of the department's PhD courses
- Attract external research funding
- Assessment and committee work at Aarhus University
- Research-based collaboration with private and public-sector stakeholders, as well as research-based policy consultancy
- Dissemination of research to the outside world
Requirements:
- PhD in environmental engineering, geoscience, agronomy, agroecology, or similar experience
- Documented experience in scientific writing with numerous papers in high-quality journals or other high-quality publication channels
- Excellent H-index (depending on research area)
- Proven ability to conduct independent research of high international standard, with a substantiated research plan
- Extensive international research collaborations and experience
- Ability to perform ground-breaking research
- Experience in supervision and teaching at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels
- Documented experience with policy support
- Dedication and ability to collaborate and build relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in planning and conducting field work
- Experience in planning and conducting laboratory work within the characterization of hydraulic properties of soils
- Insight into agricultural systems and practices
- Experience with modeling of water and nutrient transport
