About Us

The IT University of Copenhagen is a leading institution for IT research and education, delivering state-of-the-art teaching and research within computer science, business IT, and digital design.

We collaborate closely with industry, the public sector, and international researchers, characterized by a strong entrepreneurial spirit among students and researchers.

Our campus in central Copenhagen is designed by renowned architect Henning Larsen, providing a modern and inspiring work environment.

Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our Programming, Logic, and Semantics (PLS) research group. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing the theory and practice of probabilistic session types, a formal framework for reasoning about correctness, reliability, and expressiveness in distributed systems with probabilistic behavior.

The project aims to develop a foundational approach to probabilistic session types, supporting rigorous analysis of properties relevant to concurrent systems with probabilistic behavior. We seek a candidate with a strong background in formal methods, programming languages, distributed systems, or probabilistic models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in probabilistic session types and their applications
  • Develop and implement new techniques for analyzing and verifying probabilistic systems
  • Collaborate with international researchers and partners
Requirements
  • MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field
  • Background in formal methods, programming languages, distributed systems, or probabilistic models
  • Experience with proof assistants, type systems, or model checking is an advantage
