Aarhus Universitet (AU) invites applications for an Assistant Professorship in Archaeological Simulation at the Social Resilience Lab, Department of Culture and Society. The position is a four-year training position involving research and limited teaching.

Responsibilities include leading simulation aspects of projects from conceptualisation to publication, developing bespoke statistics, and handling humanities data with context specialists. The successful candidate will contribute to core activities at Aarhus University and strengthen the Social Resilience Lab's research activities.

The job description involves delivering academic outputs at the highest level of scholarly excellence, pursuing vision-driven world-class research as a team, and managing existing and developing new research projects with internal and external partners.

The position offers ample professional development opportunities, including cutting-edge management paradigms, processes, and software. Additionally, it provides high-level independence and authority over tasks, timelines, and processes.

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher with a strong track record in innovative and internationally recognised research in computational archaeology, social science, cultural evolution, complexity science, or similar. Experience in handling humanities data, liaising with context specialists, and working across disciplines is essential.

The salary range for this position is approximately €68,000 - €81,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to the salary, you will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including pension, health insurance, and paid holidays.

This position is ideal for a motivated and ambitious researcher looking to transition to a more independent position and take on a leadership role in the field of archaeological simulation. We welcome applicants with a PhD or equivalent qualification in archaeology, history, classics, digital humanities, social sciences, computer science, physics, complexity science, or statistics.
