**The Role**

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team as a PhD student. The successful candidate will contribute to our research on the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems and develop and apply underwater image and hydroacoustic technology to assess plankton life.

The PhD student will work closely with our team of experts in biological oceanography, ecology, and biogeochemistry to achieve our goals. The project has a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and international fieldwork campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply underwater image and hydroacoustic technology to assess plankton life
  • Analyze existing data and synthesize climate change impacts on food-webs
  • Develop high-throughput AI-assisted quantification tools
  • Modify or create new models to understand energy flow to higher trophic levels

About You:

  • You have a master's degree in natural sciences (e.g., marine biology, oceanography, environmental engineering)
  • You have experience in fieldwork within biological oceanography (preferably plankton) and technical skills to run and modify equipment
  • You have good collaborative skills and a strong interest in participating in an inter-disciplinary and international research environment
  • You have flexibility concerning fieldwork and research stays abroad
