The Saxo Institute, a leading research centre within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Copenhagen, is seeking an exceptional researcher to join our team. As a postdoctoral fellow, you will be part of the research project Radical Pietism in Northern Europe: Social Protest on the Verge of Modernity, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
Your primary responsibility will be to conduct independent research, focusing on how radical Pietists translated their conversion into distinct vestimentary, corporal, and emotional styles. You will analyze radical Pietist practices in their context, exploring alternative ways of achieving influence in the public sphere among people who possessed neither formal power nor strong bookish training.
Responsibilities and Expectations- Conduct original research and produce high-quality publications
- Participate in research collaborations and contribute to the overall project
- Develop and implement a research plan, including a sub-project focused on radical Pietist practices
- Engage with the academic community, presenting your research and participating in intellectual discussions
You are expected to possess excellent research skills, a strong academic background, and the ability to work independently. A good understanding of cultural history, sociology, history of ideas, art history, and religious history is highly desirable.
