Postdoc Position in Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services

About the Project: We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at Aarhus University, working on a newly funded project entitled 'Quantification of Marine Ecosystem Services in connection with Marine Nature Restoration' (QESMAR). The goal of this project is to develop a standardized assessment framework to efficiently quantify achieved Ecosystem Services and make them comparable across different restored habitats.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field-based monitoring using conventional and molecular techniques in various restored habitats such as seagrass meadows, kelp forests, and mussel reefs.
  • Collaborate with PhD projects to develop tools for efficiently monitoring and quantifying Ecosystem Services associated with marine restoration projects.
  • Work with the marine biodiversity monitoring group and the marine model group at the department, as well as external partners, to advance our understanding of marine ecosystem services.
  • Contribute to strengthening the competences of the Danish national center for marine restoration.

Requirements: To be successful in this position, you should hold a PhD in marine ecology, biology, environmental sciences, or a related field. You should have expertise in benthic ecology and biodiversity, experience with marine restoration, and publications in high-ranking journals. Additionally, you should possess excellent collaboration skills, the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, and very good knowledge of English (written and oral).
