At Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) Space, we are seeking an astrophysicist to join our team as a postdoctoral researcher. The successful candidate will work on the ERC-funded MAGNIFY project, focusing on the effects of magnetic fields on stellar structure and mixing processes within stars.

About the Project

The MAGNIFY project aims to investigate the variability induced by stellar spots and examine the origin of magnetic fields causing these variations in A and F stars. Using asteroseismology, we aim to detect and analyze near-core and surface magnetic fields. This involves comparing theoretical models with photometric observations from the Kepler and TESS satellites, complemented by Gaia data and ground-based spectroscopic and spectropolarimetric observations.

Responsibilities
  • Create and coordinate a comprehensive grid of stellar and pulsation models for A and F stars.
  • Analyze how different model parameters affect pulsation characteristics.
  • Use asteroseismology to study near-core and surface magnetic fields, integrating findings into a broader understanding of stellar structures.
  • Analyze how magnetic fields affect pulsation frequencies.
  • Publish findings in scientific journals and present at research seminars and conferences.
  • Mentor and support students and PhD students engaged in related research activities.
