About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Specialist to join our Research Data Management department at Novo Nordisk. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality and consistency of our data.

Job Description

As a Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will collaborate closely with data owners and analysts to assess, identify, and address data quality or consistency issues. You will also establish data management plans for specific domains, including data quality and governance policies, and ensure adherence to standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with diverse stakeholders to drive change management and influence the adoption of FAIR data principles and standardized vocabulary within regulatory guidelines.
  • Understanding ETL processes to efficiently obtain internal and external data for analysis and integration into our data ecosystem.
  • Communicating widely and setting up training as required to educate specialists and research scientists on data management processes, including metadata registration.
  • Popularizing the use of controlled vocabularies, ontologies, and data management best practices through training and workshops.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, we expect you to have an MSc degree in life sciences or a related field, along with 5 years of experience in biological or chemical data management. Relevant industry experience would be advantageous.

You should possess expertise in (meta)data management, data governance, and/or stewardship, as well as proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python, with experience in ETL processes.
