About the Research

The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at KU - SCIENCE - PLEN is focused on understanding the complex interactions between microbes, their hosts, and the environment. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher to join our team and contribute to our research efforts.

The successful candidate will work on research projects related to microbial ecology, host-microbe interactions, and the impact of environmental factors on microbial communities. The postdoc will have the opportunity to develop and implement new research methods and protocols, collaborate with colleagues and external partners, teach and supervise students, and communicate research findings through publications and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research in microbiology and contribute to ongoing projects
  • Develop and implement new research methods and protocols
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to advance knowledge in the field

Requirements

  • PhD in Microbiology or a related field
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, and PCR
  • Experience with data analysis software, such as R, and proficiency in programming languages
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
