Global Public Health Operations Specialist

The World Health Organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join its team as a Global Public Health Operations Specialist in the Emergency Response department. This role will be responsible for managing the operation of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control's (ECDC) emergency response system, including the development and implementation of operational procedures and structures for managing WHO/EURO responses to emergencies.
About the Role
This position requires a strong background in public health, emergency management, and operations research. The successful candidate will have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, combined at the national and international levels, in supporting emergency operations involving applying public health emergency planning and management systems. Familiarity with WHO ERF and IMS functions, including the role of the EOC/SHOC, is essential.
The incumbent will perform a range of duties, including:
- Managing the operation of the EURO SHOC, including the development and implementation of operational procedures and structures for managing WHO/EURO responses to emergencies.
- Building and maintaining EURO SHOC capabilities, including managing assigned staff and developing new staff support tools.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of operational procedures and structures for efficient management of response to health emergencies.
- Liaising with WCOs, other regions, headquarters, and Member States EOC structures as needed.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in public health, emergency management, and operations research.
- Familiarity with WHO ERF and IMS functions, including the role of the EOC/SHOC.
- Experience in developing and implementing operational procedures and structures for managing WHO/EURO responses to emergencies.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and obtain results while adhering to tight deadlines.
