About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our engineering team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our engineering strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring the success of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain accurate, fit-for-purpose, and sustainable delivery systems within your team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth among your team members.
  • Cultivate a strong understanding of Xero's Engineering Standards and advocate for their adoption across the organization.
  • Work collaboratively with your peers in Product and other teams to develop roadmaps and plans that effectively deliver business outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging engineering practices, techniques, and frameworks and apply this knowledge to drive innovation within the team.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring that post-incident learnings are collected and actioned.
  • Empower your team to take ownership of their work and provide coaching and guidance to support their growth and development.">

Requirements:

  1. Demonstrate technical expertise in software development and a passion for leading high-performing teams.
  2. Showcase excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  3. Possess a deep understanding of Xero's Engineering Standards and a proven track record of advocating for their adoption.
  4. Display a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team.
