Job Role: Urban Planner / GIS Specialist
BIG is an international architectural company looking for an experienced Urban Planner / GIS Specialist to join our London office. As a key member of our Design Technology team, you will be responsible for performing spatial analytics in GIS, supporting the team in understanding GIS's role in supporting business activities, and leading technical coordination and development related to strategic planning, regulatory frameworks, technical standards, and information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilise existing tools and data to perform spatial analytics in GIS
- Support the wider Design Technology team in understanding GIS's role in supporting business activities
- Technical coordination and development related to strategic planning, regulatory frameworks, technical standards, and information
- Review project documents including schedules, surveys, and deliverables, and leverage this information to deliver technical services
- Lead, manage and communicate the technical aspects related to GIS deliverables to internal and external parties
- Support project leaders in technical communication with clients
- Interpret and apply government codes, ordinances, and regulations
- Assist with updates and file coordination of structure plans, transportation networks, utility corridors and land development regulations
- Offer end-user support and guidance on GIS systems and processes
- Create and manage CAD/GIS workflows
Requirements:
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Geography, or related discipline
- A minimum of 6 years of demonstrable experience in town planning, preferably within the Middle East
- Proven expertise in delivering successful planning projects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in planning software and GIS tools
- Rhino and AutoCAD are desirable
