Job Opportunity: Postdoc on Biochar Catalysed Degradation of Halogenated Pollutants

At Københavns Universitet, we invite applicants for a postdoctoral research position focused on biochar catalysed degradation of halogenated pollutants. This project is part of the ARAGORN initiative, aiming to mitigate risks and restore Europe's contaminated soils.

The successful candidate will contribute to developing and testing biochar-oxidant composites for fast and full degradation of chlorinated compounds. They will also assess the performance of optimized reaction systems at the column scales with real contaminated soils and groundwater, comparing it to existing remediation technologies.

This role requires strong knowledge of interface and redox chemistry, as well as experience with physical and chemical analyses of soils. The ideal candidate should have analytical chemical skills, competences within data management, and excellent English writing and speaking abilities.

  • Developing and testing biochar-oxidant composites for fast and full degradation of chlorinated compounds;
  • Assessing performance of optimized reaction systems at the column scales with real contaminated soils and groundwater;
  • Comparison of performance of optimized reaction system to existing remediation technologies.
