Researcher in History of Philosophy and Literature at University of Copenhagen
3 weeks ago
The ERC-funded project "Women in the Nordic Enlightenment (WHENCE)" seeks to bring to light and critically assess the intellectual contributions of women to the Nordic Enlightenment. This project aims to uncover the complex and often overlooked narratives surrounding women's involvement in early modern Scandinavian philosophy.
The project focuses on examining a text corpus consisting of unpublished material and published texts written by over 100 women in Scandinavia. Our guiding hypothesis is that the Nordic way of women's Enlightenment significantly differs from developments prevalent in other regions of Europe, and that women played a decisive role in creating a sustainable identification of the Nordic countries with gender equality.
Job DescriptionThe postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for:
- Conducting independent research on the intellectual contributions of women to the Nordic Enlightenment.
- Collaborating with other team members to achieve project goals.
- Participating in project meetings, working with project partners, and publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A PhD in philosophy or a relevant related subject such as history, literature, or history of ideas.
- Expertise in the history of philosophy and literature or history or history of ideas.
- High proficiency in English and Danish, Norwegian, or Swedish.
This is a full-time research position offering a competitive salary and benefits package. The successful candidate will also have access to a range of resources and opportunities for professional development.
