Leading Researcher in Neural Oscillations and Architectural Rhythms

At Aalborg Universitet, we are seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join our esteemed research group Brain, Body, Architecture Research. As a PhD Stipend holder, you will be part of an innovative cluster of engineering-based environments for education and research that integrate creativity, engineering, and technology.
Job OverviewThis PhD position is open within the study programme Media, Architecture and Design at the Department of Architecture, Design, and Media Technology. We aim to develop an interdisciplinary understanding of how the built environment influences the human brain and body based on cognitive (neuro-)science.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate the relationship between neural rhythms and the built environment, focusing on short-term memory and selective attention.
- Explore how interacting with built rhythms contributes to cognitive processes and quality of life through the built environment.
- Utilize behavioral experiments and cognitive neuroscience methods, including Mobile Brain/Body Imaging techniques and Virtual/Augmented Reality.
We are looking for a candidate with a master's degree in Architecture, Urban Design, (Neuro-) Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or related fields. Personal suitability and motivation for the position are essential.
In assessing applications, emphasis will be placed on:
- Experience designing and running laboratory experiments independently, particularly in human behavior, cognition, and environmental psychology.
- Experience with basic statistics, such as linear regression and post-hoc contrasts.
- The applicant's ability to complete the research training.
- Demonstrated language skills in spoken and written English suitable for scientific communication.
We prioritize applicants who submit a short project description suggesting a PhD project within the theme mentioned above, including research questions, study design, methods, theories, and a time schedule.
What We OfferWe offer a 3-year PhD stipend as per the Ministry of Finance Circular of 15 December 2021 on the Collective Agreement for Academics in Denmark, Appendix 5, regarding PhD fellows. The salary is estimated to be around DKK 320,000 - DKK 340,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
