Position Overview
The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to the department's teaching and research within Danish property law. Physical attendance at the department is required.
About Property Law
Property law deals with the rules that govern economic activities of citizens and is traditionally divided into two main areas: obligations and property law. The Department of Law aims to strengthen its research efforts in property law in its broad sense.
Teaching Obligations
The teaching obligations relate to property law courses on all programs offered by the department. Currently, the main teaching and supervision tasks are on the Bachelor's degree in Laws, Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Commercial Law, Master's degree in Laws, and Master's degree in Science in Economics and Business Administration. The associate professor must therefore be able to teach and supervise in Danish. The teaching duties also include assignments at both oral and written examinations. Additionally, there is a duty to contribute to the department's PhD degree program.
Research Obligations
The research obligations relate to the property law courses in which the person conducts teaching, as well as other property law courses within the department's overall strategy. The Department of Law aims to strengthen the research efforts in this field.
Responsibilities
- Contribute significantly to the department's teaching environment, particularly performing research-based teaching and supervision tasks at both Bachelor's and Master's degree levels in the subject area.
- Make a significant effort in connection with written and oral examinations, including preparing written examination assignments.
- Publish and disseminate scientific results within the subject area, both nationally and internationally.
- Conduct the development of the subject area at the highest international level, including supervising PhD students and offering PhD courses.
- Make a significant contribution to the department's research environment by participating in conferences, workshops, networking, and research groups.
- Undertake research management within the subject area and actively pursue the department's objective of increased external funding.
- Be prepared to enter into cross-disciplinary partnerships as appropriate for developing teaching or research or for attracting external funding.
Qualifications
Appointment as an associate professor requires research and teaching qualifications at a level attained following a satisfactory period as an assistant professor or equivalent. Emphasis will be placed on both breadth and depth of the applicant's teaching and research activities.
Assessment Criteria
- Documentation of teaching and examination qualifications, including preparation of written exam papers, in the form of a teaching portfolio.
- Documentation of original scientific production at an international level within the subject area.
- Experience in the presentation and dissemination of research within the subject area.
- A clear account of how the applicant will contribute to the further development of the subject area.
- Documentation of teaching and carrying out examinations within the subject area.
- Fulfilment of other specific qualifications stipulated in the job advertisement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To obtain a permanent position as an associate professor at Aarhus BSS, it is required that the applicant has completed the faculty's course in supervision and the faculty's course in Blended Learning – Go Online before employment. Continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five-year period if not completed prior to employment.
