The Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the research project 'Non-Muslim Islam'. This project seeks to investigate how non-Muslims produce Islamic discourse, exploring the hypothesis that non-Muslim Islam is the most well-disseminated interpretation of Islam in Danish media.
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing Work Package 2 entitled 'The Legal System' of the 'Non-Muslim Islam'-project. They will work together with the PI (Jesper Petersen) to test the hypothesis that non-Muslim Islam has a significant presence in Danish law, despite the use of neutral language.
The postdoc will investigate how non-Muslim Islam is produced in Danish courts at all levels and in the European Court of Human Rights, examining the consequences for Muslim citizens and the epistemological qualifications of these Islam productions.
A good understanding of sharia, Islamic studies, history of religions, and discourse theory are advantageous but not essential. The assessment committee will prioritize candidates with a clear potential to deliver high-quality peer-reviewed research publications.
