About the Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in biochemical, biophysical, and structural characterization of nucleic acid binding proteins. Your project will investigate the replication of human herpes viruses during lytic infection and explore methods to inhibit this process.

The Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC) at Københavns Universitet is a leading institution for basic and applied research. Our faculty members collaborate closely with researchers from other institutions, promoting interdisciplinary research and innovation.

The primary methodological approaches in our laboratory include single particle cryo-electron microscopy and protein and nucleic acid biochemistry. Our team benefits from generous funding and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, including electron microscopy facilities and core facilities for protein production, crystallography, biophysics, high performance computing, mass spectrometry, and genomics.

Your job

  • Engage in groundbreaking research
  • Develop experimental strategies, techniques, and procedures
  • Assist PI with training lab members
  • Contribute to writing and disseminating research results

We are looking for a highly motivated colleague with the following competencies:

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Proficiency in recombinant protein expression and purification
  • Substantial expertise in biochemical, biophysical, and molecular biology techniques
  • Prior experience in cryo-electron microscopy sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis is required
  • A strong background in protein biochemistry and mammalian cell culture techniques is desired
  • Strong team player skills are required
  • You should have an interest in supporting the supervision of BSc and MSc students
  • Publications in high-quality journals and presentations at international conferences are expected
  • Ability to manage a research project and associated resources
