The Natural History Museum of Denmark is the national museum for nature and contains over 14 million objects of preserved animals, plants, fossils, and minerals. As a premier research institution, we are committed to understanding and addressing the impact of climate change on plant and animal life.
We are currently building a new Danish national museum for nature in Copenhagen, which will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, research collections, public galleries, and facilities for programming, education, and citizen science.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking two experienced natural history conservators to join our Conservation Unit and assist with the preparation of objects for our new permanent galleries. The successful candidates will work closely with our team to plan and undertake varied object treatments, packing, transport, and installation.
- Assist the Head of Conservation Unit with day-to-day management of the conservation lab and scheduling of object treatments.
- Contribute to preventive conservation needs and provide advice to the wider museum.
- Investigate, plan, and undertake conservation treatments on various natural history collection types.
- Write conservation reports for objects, including detailed photography.
- Organize and supervise projects for interns, volunteers, and collections assistants as needed.
- Oversee the packing and transport of objects and assist in the final installation of objects into the permanent galleries.
