About the Opportunity

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Strategic Policy and Communications Associate.

As a member of our Nordic Representation Office, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation of our strategic goals and objectives. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals and contribute to the development of policies and communications strategies that promote sustainable development and reduce inequalities.

About UNDP

UNDP is the lead UN development agency, working to eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities through sustainable development. We are present in 170 countries around the world and work closely with governments, civil society, and the private sector to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our Nordic Representation Office is located at the UN City in Copenhagen, with satellite offices in Stockholm and Oslo. We work together to distribute knowledge about UNDP's work in the Nordic countries and coordinate partnerships with key partners.

About the Job

The Strategic Policy and Communications Associate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Partnership and Communications Analyst and the UNDP Nordic Office Deputy Director. This includes conducting analysis on Finland's political landscape, ODA, and budget, supporting the development and publishing of communications materials, assisting in planning and conducting public events, and translating news articles and other texts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis on Finland's political landscape, ODA, and budget
  • Support the development and publishing of communications materials through various social media channels
  • Assist in planning and conducting public events such as conferences, seminars, and report launches
  • Translate news articles, media pitches, and other texts
  • Support the preparation of briefing material for seminars, meetings, and international visits
  • Perform administrative support

Requirements

  • Excellent communications skills in English and Finnish, both written and oral
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of global development and the work of international organizations
  • Strong social media skills; knowledge of web publication tools and graphic design tools such as Canva is an advantage
  • Team player; works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work independently
