We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at DTU Wind and Energy Systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of methods for exploiting the flexibility potential of electric vehicle (EV) charging clusters and their synergies with renewable energy generation.
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the European research project AHEAD: AI-informed Holistic Electric Vehicles Integration Approaches for Distribution Grids. The project aims to create a simulation environment capable of predicting the most convenient location to place EV charging stations and optimizing both the usage of power grid resources and the charging stations located in urban and rural areas.
Responsibilities- Quantify the flexibility potential of different EV charging hubs, both public and private, including light- and heavy-duty vehicles
- Investigate possible synergies between the EV charging processes and the renewable energy generation and propose new methods to exploit them
- Quantify their combined impact on the power system and find the optimal location to maximize their usage and minimize their grid impact
- Investigate innovative charging technologies that can be combined with renewable energy sources and provide flexibility to the power system
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with focus on energy systems
- Experience with data analysis, visualization, and applied statistics
- Knowledge of electric vehicle technology and innovative charging technologies
- Dynamic modeling and simulation of power systems components at distribution level
- Strong programming skills (MATLAB and/or Python)
- Experience with supervision and teaching of students
- Experience in fund-raising
