The Section for Civil and Architectural Engineering at Syddansk Universitet (SDU) invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in Urban Resilience, with a focus on coastal areas. The successful candidate will be part of the UNESCO Chair on Urban Resilience, a research group dedicated to developing transdisciplinary research, education, and knowledge transfer on urban resilience in Denmark and internationally.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Conducting internationally competitive research activities and publishing in high-level peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Engaging in various forms and levels of research dissemination, collaborating with other organizations (research, public authorities, and private sector), and securing external funding from Danish, EU, and international sources.

The UNESCO Chair on Urban Resilience is committed to advancing transdisciplinary research, education, and knowledge transfer on urban resilience in Denmark and internationally. As an Associate Professor in this field, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and expansion of research, education, and knowledge transfer activities across the urban resilience group's knowledge areas, with a specific focus on coastal areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Associate Professor in Urban Resilience, your duties will include:
- Contributing to the further development and expansion of research, education, and knowledge transfer activities across the urban resilience group's knowledge areas, with a specific focus on coastal areas.
- Playing a significant role in initiating and delivering research projects with high impact internationally.
- Collaborating in the publication of research outcomes in high-quality scientific journals and books.
- Actively participating in attracting external funding for research, innovation, and education activities from private and public donors.
- Leading and contributing to the development of courses at BSc, MSc, and PhD level, as well as capacity building.
- Supervising and supporting the professional development of research staff.
- Working collaboratively with peers across the faculty, as well as with private and public sector nationally and internationally.
