Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time
Research Scientist in Cancer Biology at Københavns Universitet

We are looking for a highly skilled research scientist with expertise in chromatin biology to develop innovative epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment. This is a 3-year position, starting November 2024.

The successful candidate will join the Chromatin Replication and Epigenome Maintenance research group headed by Prof. Anja Groth at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR). Our research aims to elucidate how chromatin organization and function is propagated during mitotic cell division to maintain genome and epigenome stability. We seek to understand mechanisms underlying chromatin replication and epigenetic cell memory, and their impact on cell fate decisions in development and disease.

We employ cutting-edge proteomic and genomic approaches in combination with stem cell biology, high-content imaging, chromatin biochemistry, and structure-function studies. Our team is diverse and multidisciplinary, collaborating nationally and internationally. We value idea sharing and creative problem-solving, and have a translational focus connected to our spin-out company Ankrin Therapeutics.

You will be part of our efforts to translate our research in epigenetics into innovative treatment strategies together with clinical collaborators. Building on our expertise in chromatin replication, you will develop rationale for novel epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment using genome-editing techniques and state-of-the-art genomics. You will work within a highly collaborative group and contribute to other ongoing projects and supervision of students.

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A PhD in Life science, biochemistry, molecular cell biology, or related fields
  • Background in epigenetics and cancer biology
  • Expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) approaches and data analysis
  • Collaborative and inclusive mindset, curiosity-driven nature, and good communication skills

We offer a dynamic and inclusive work environment with opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with a talented team. The employment is at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
