København Ø, Copenhagen, Denmark KU- SCIENCE - CHEM og MATH og NBI-HCØ Full time

The Niels Bohr Institute, Section for Biocomplexity and Biophysics, invites highly motivated candidates to apply for a PhD fellowship in Condensate Formations and Oscillatory Protein Concentrations in Cell Regulation.

About the Project

This PhD project will address fundamental problems at the interface of physics and biology, specifically how cells operate in space and time to achieve fine-tuned regulation of specific targets. The research will explore dynamic variations in transcription factor concentrations, combined with local condensation hotspots, to advance the level of control in response to external stresses.

Research Area

The project aims to establish a bridge between the dynamics of transcription factors and the formation of condensates to understand how complex life creates fine-tuned regulation. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in dynamical systems, statistical physics, numerical techniques, and a basic knowledge of cellular biology.

Job Requirements
  • Candidates within the field(s) of physics, computational biology, or similar
  • Excellent skills in dynamical systems, statistical physics, numerical techniques, and a basic knowledge of cellular biology
  • Curious mind-set with a strong interest in Biocomplexity and Biophysics

We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.

Responsibilities
  • Carry through an independent research project under supervision
  • Complete PhD courses corresponding to approx. 30 ECTS / ½ FTE
  • Participate in active research environments, including a stay at another research institution, preferably abroad
  • Teaching and knowledge dissemination activities
  • Write scientific papers aimed at high-impact journals
