Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineering Manager to join our team at The Hub/Danske Bank. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers and driving the development of our data platform.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About the Job

Job Summary

  • The successful candidate will lead a team of 8-12 data engineers in designing and developing scalable data platforms that meet the needs of our business.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of data engineering principles, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • The Data Engineering Manager will work closely with other teams, including data analytics and data science, to ensure that our data platforms are meeting the needs of the business.
  • This is a remote job opportunity, and we offer a competitive salary of $150,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data engineers in designing and developing scalable data platforms.
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure that our data platforms are meeting the needs of the business.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve data quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Mentor and coach team members to help them grow professionally and personally.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize projects that align with business objectives.
  • Design and optimize data pipelines to improve performance and reduce latency.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on leadership and team management.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality results on time and on budget.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or GCP.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, such as Hadoop or Spark.
