The University of Copenhagen invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in history. The successful candidate will join the Saxo Institute, Faculty of Humanities, and contribute to the research project Radical Pietism in Northern Europe: Social Protest on the Verge of Modernity.
This is a fixed-term position for 24 months. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for analyzing radical Pietist practices in their context, exploring alternative ways of achieving influence in the public sphere among people who possessed neither formal power nor strong bookish training.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze radical Pietist practices and their impact on the public sphere
- Develop and implement a research plan to achieve the project's objectives
- Contribute to the intellectual life of the Saxo Institute and the University of Copenhagen community
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in history or a related field and excellent research skills. A background in cultural history, sociology, history of ideas, art history, or religious history is highly desirable.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide an outline of their research plan and how they intend to approach the topic. They will also be required to demonstrate their ability to conduct independent research and participate in research collaborations.
A teaching qualification is not a requirement but can be included in the overall assessment. The recruitment process will involve a review of applications, shortlisting, and an expert assessment committee.
