About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Xero. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our backend systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable, efficient, and secure backend systems using .NET Core C#.
  • Work with our team to identify and prioritize technical requirements and implement solutions that meet our customers' needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with our frontend and other backend systems.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, following best practices and ensuring that our systems are reliable, secure, and performant.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior engineers to help them grow and develop their skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry, and contribute to our team's knowledge base by sharing your expertise and experiences.
Requirements
  • Strong foundation in .NET Core C# and experience with SQL and Redis.
  • Proficient in CI/CD concepts and tooling, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement.
  • Highly proficient in the architecture and implementation of distributed systems, with the ability to refactor complex, monolithic systems into scalable, resilient components.
  • Ability to review and coordinate team processes to improve quality and strengthen feedback loops.
