We are looking for a highly motivated assistant professor for a two-year position, who is to commence on 1st of April 2026, or after agreement. This position will be working with novel brain stimulation probes and their application in neuroprosthetics.

We do neuroscience research at the Department of Neuroscience, university of Copenhagen
Your job
We strive to implant the bionic device in the living mouse brain, examine brain responses and unveil its underlying biological mechanism. We will examine the brain cellular and vascular activities by state-of-art in vivo two-photon microscopy, as well as mouse behavior.
Your tasks would be:
Implant the bionic device in anesthetized mouse with acute cranial window or awake mouse with chronic cranial window.
Use two-photon microscopy as a main tool to study brain cellular and vascular responses.
Simple animal behavior study.
Test efficacy of different bionic designs and feedback to external collaborator.
Analyze data, write and publish high quality papers.
Write project reports, and participate in project meetings.
Co-supervise bachelor, master, and PhD students.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
- PhD or equivalent degree in natural, medical science or biomedical engineering that is obtained after 2016.
- Excellent scientific track record
- Prior experience in 2-photon microscopy imaging in live mice and / or visual cortex is preferred
- Experience in Matlab programming and computational data analysis is desirable
- Technical skills in real time data acquisition and instrumentation control is a plus
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- An analytical aptitude of devising innovative scientific or technical solutions
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, flexibility and confidence
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Neuroscience, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. Our research facilities include modern laboratories.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date is 1st of April, 2026, or after agreement.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 40,000 DKK/approx. 5362 EUR (April 2025 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2024.
