Assistant Professor of Skin Immunology at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic assistant professor for a 3-year position to commence

The project will be focused on elucidating T and B cell responses in skin exposed to allergens.

Our research
You will work in the T Cell Biology and Skin Inflammation group Our main research interests are T cell biology in inflammatory skin diseases with emphasis on T cell responses during allergic contact dermatitis, crosstalk between different types of T cells and antigen-presenting cells and keratinocytes, respectively. Additionally, we are investigating the role of skin-resident memory T cells versus systemic memory T cells during skin inflammation and the mechanisms of immune regulation, including the contribution of regulatory B and T cells in preventing skin inflammation.

Your research task will focus on studies on T and B cell responses in skin exposed to allergens.

The Assistant Professor's Responsibilities Will Primarily Consist Of

Furthermore, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following skills and experience:

Essential Experience And Skills

  • PhD in immunology or related field
  • License for animal experiments and an active interest in skin immunology and allergic contact dermatitis
  • Experience with in vivo murine models of allergic contact dermatitis
  • Highly experienced in in vitro techniques
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Desirable Experience And Skills

  • Experience in designing and conducting pilot/preliminary human studies
  • Hands-on experience with ex vivo experiments and processing of patient-derived samples (e.g., skin biopsies and blood samples)
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians and researchers both nationally and internationally
  • Proficiency with advanced immunological methods such as multicolor flow cytometry immunohistochemistry, cytokine/chemokine detection assays and RNA-sequencing methods
  • Knowledge of conducting relevant statistical methods for analyzing immunological and exploratory clinical data

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center, Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. The start date is or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 35,000 DKK/approx. 4,700 EUR (October 2021 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.

The further process
