Role Overview

The Release Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling the movement of software releases from development through testing and into production. The goal is to ensure that releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal disruption to business and testing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the release management process across the program in collaboration with multiple stakeholders and vendors.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive release calendar in coordination with project, release, and test managers.
  • Coordinate release activities across various environments — Dev, INT3, SIT, STG, Pre-PROD, and PROD.
  • Ensure vendors execute build, integration, and deployment processes according to defined standards.
  • Validate that release packages include all necessary components (code, configurations, documentation, etc.).
  • Facilitate go/no-go meetings and obtain necessary stakeholder approvals.
  • Track release progress, identify risks, and manage issue resolution.
  • Define and test rollback and recovery procedures.
  • Communicate release scope, status, risks, and outcomes clearly to all stakeholders.
  • Support post-release validation and reporting activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in release or deployment management within large IT programs.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and testing processes.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, version control, and automated deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with ITIL Release and Deployment Management principles.
  • Experience working in multi-vendor, multi-platform environments.
  • Excellent coordination, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator, capable of managing conflicts and aligning stakeholders under pressure.
