Summary:

Goldbelt Apex LLC is pleased to announce the opportunity for an experienced Researcher/Technical Advisor to join our team. This position is integral to supporting the Indian Health Service (IHS) Tribal Injury Prevention Cooperative Agreement Program (TIPCAP). The Researcher/Technical Advisor will support the evaluation advisory contract by providing technical assistance and expertise in community-based injury prevention. This role involves contributing to the development of training tools and resources, assisting grantees with evaluation activities, and supporting various program tasks. The Researcher/Technical Advisor will work closely with the Project Director, IHS staff, and TIPCAP grantees.

Job Location: Remote, supporting HHS HQ in Rockville, Maryland. 

Travel Required: Site visits to Tribal grantee locations up to 4 times a year at a conference facility to be secured by the Indian Health Service, with the area not specified at this time. Goldbelt would provide travel reimbursement. 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide professional oversight and technical expertise in best practices in community-based injury prevention program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, training, and resource development.

  • Develop training tools and resources to assist Cooperative Agreement (CA) Programs in completing their established objectives.
  • Develop and complete worksheets, spreadsheets, or other tracking methods for each TIPCAP site to track progress, barriers, and training needs.
  • Conduct three to four webinars per contract year with all grantees, IHS POs, and IHS injury prevention staff.
  • Review and update the IHS TIPCAP Handbook annually.
  • Respond to technical assistance requests from all grantees, which may include referrals, data analysis, research, and assistance with implementing prevention strategies.
  • Work with IHS staff to define required and recommended data variables and provide templates and data collection tools.
  • Coordinate planning and participate in the annual TIPCAP workshop, including developing the agenda and recording notes.
  • Conduct an annual survey of TIPCAP coordinators and compile annual profiles for each grantee.
  • Participate in site visits to Part I grantees and conduct less formal annual site visits.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls with the IHS Injury Prevention Specialist.
Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Expertise in community-based injury prevention and public health evaluation
  • Strong analytical skills for data collection, interpretation, and reporting
  • Ability to develop training materials, tools, and technical resources
  • Proficiency in conducting webinars, workshops, and site visits
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and providing technical assistance
  • Familiarity with federal public health programs and cooperative agreements
  • Cultural competency and experience working with American Indian or Alaska Native communities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with diverse teams remotely

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community injury prevention and/or field-based public health practice.

  • Experience in applying public health principles applicable to the science and evidence-based practice of community-based injury control and prevention theories, program evaluation, and interventions.
  • A Master of Public Health degree or higher, or a Master of Science degree in a closely related field.
  • Experience working with American Indian or Alaska Native communities.

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000.
