Leader for Control Systems
Introduction/ appetizer
At Everllence, we are committed to tackling the big challenges posed by climate change. Our mission, "Moving Big Things To Zero," drives us to develop and provide cutting-edge technology for the maritime sector. Our goal is to enable global shipping to run on carbon-neutral fuels derived from renewable energy sources, such as methanol and ammonia. Do you share our passion for decarbonizing the shipping industry? Then one of the two open positions at Everllence in the Automation & Control department may be the perfect fit for you.
About Automation & Control
Automation & Control is a newly established area within Everllence Two-Stroke R&D, created by merging the Control Systems and Automation Platform functions. The organization consists of approximately 150 people and is responsible for developing all electronics and software required to ensure efficient, reliable, and compliant operation of Everllence's two-stroke engines.
As part of building this new area, we are looking for two leaders to head the Control Systems and Automation Platform functions, each comprising around 50 people across several sub-departments.
You will play an important role in
- Helping address deep interdependencies and strengthen cross-functional collaboration between the two departments.
- Serving as a role model, supporting and developing department managers while developing the business and the talents in their team.
- Providing visionary leadership to diverse teams and, as part of R&D, highlighting a culture of innovation as well as a collaborative approach with the rest of the organization.
- Developing and executing a coherent approach to strategic development for Automation & Control in close collaboration with the management team.
If you see yourself shaping the future of Automation & Control, we look forward to hearing from you.
Head of Control Systems
You will lead the development of control system software for Everllence's two-stroke engines, a critical component for ensuring performance, reliability, safety, and compliance. The control systems are developed in close collaboration with other areas of the two-stroke business, particularly within R&D, to define control strategies that unlock the full potential of our engine systems, both for newbuilds and retrofit solutions.
Current strategic focus areas include control systems for alternative fuels such as ammonia, enabling carbon-neutral propulsion; vessel optimization technologies like air lubrication; and adaptive control strategies that ensure optimal performance under varying conditions and component wear throughout the vessel's lifetime.
Our engines are produced under license in Japan, China, and South Korea, and installed across a wide range of merchant vessels. To stay close to our customers and users, the role includes annual travel, typically to East Asia, to engage directly with key stakeholders.
You will lead multiple sub-departments, each with its own team and technical focus, and play a central role in shaping the future of control systems within Everllence.
Head of Automation Platform
You will lead the development of embedded platforms, electronic production, and edge technologies, essential components of Everllence's two-stroke engines. The function drives progress in key strategic areas such as Embedded Platform Strategy, Electronic Device Management (including over-the-air software updates), and Cyber Security, ensuring our automation solutions remain reliable, scalable, and fit for future market needs.
Automation Platform also supports product lifecycle management and proactive obsolescence strategies, working closely with regulatory bodies and international stakeholders to shape standards and ensure long-term system availability.
Our engines and electronics are produced in East Asia, and we strive to stay close to our customers, electronics manufacturers, and product users. The role includes annual travel, typically to East Asia, to engage directly with these stakeholders.
You will lead multiple sub-departments, each with dedicated team leads and technical focus areas, and play a key role in shaping the future of automation within Everllence.
We imagine that you:
- Hold a Bachelor or Master's degree within a technical area - maritime or a related field. Ideally supplemented with a leadership education.
- Bring 8-10 years of proven experience in a leadership role within a technical industry, preferably with experience in leading managers.
- Demonstrate experience working cross-functionally, achieving results through a strong holistic mindset.
- Think strategically and have the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
- Communicate effectively with excellent presentation skills and create followership through your communication and leadership style.
Unleash your potential: Join us towards a carbon-neutral future
At Everllence, we offer you the chance to shape the future where you can create, drive, build, and be a part of improving innovative energy solutions, while achieving your personal career goals. We prioritize work-life balance with flexible working hours, remote work options, and over 7 weeks of paid time off.
We foster a creative and inclusive culture, emphasizing diversity and equality. We are dedicated to our employees' well-being, offering opportunities to join various social activity clubs, ranging from yoga and fishing to creative clubs.
The two positions are located in Copenhagen. But in 2027, we will consolidate our Zealand locations into one large site in Trekroner, Roskilde.
