At BD Energy, we're looking for a Financial Controller who wants to be close to the business and help strengthen the financial backbone of our growing power trading operations across Europe.

We trade electricity throughout worldwide markets and leverage data, technology and trading expertise to optimize energy flows and support the green transition. As our new Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring reliable figures, strong analysis and a financial setup built for a fast-paced trading environment.

Your role

As a Financial Controller at BD Energy, you will take on a broad and impactful role that combines classic financial controlling with close collaboration across the organisation. Your responsibilities include:

• Managing monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes in collaboration with external auditors
• Preparing and continuously improving financial reports for management and the board
• Controlling trading activities, including P&L, balance sheet items, reconciliations, and performance monitoring
• Driving budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis and recommendations
• Developing and maintaining internal controls, processes, and documentation
• Supporting cash flow and liquidity management in a capital-intensive business
• Working closely with CFO as well as traders, quants, and IT
• Contributing to ongoing automation and digitalisation of financial processes

In short: you ensure we always have accurate numbers, valuable insights, and a solid financial foundation for decision-making.

Who we image you are

We imagine you bring:

• A relevant educational background, e.g. , , , HD(R) or similar
• Minimum 2 years of experience (3–5 years is preferable) from auditing, controlling, finance, or a similar role — experience from energy, trading, finance, or other analytical industries is a plus
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, reporting, and controlling — familiarity with Danish GAAP and IFRS is an advantage
• Strong Excel skills and a comfort level working with large data sets; experience with Power BI or similar tools is a plus
• A structured, detail-oriented approach - while keeping an eye on the bigger picture
• Curiosity for markets and an interest in understanding the drivers behind the numbers
• Strong communication skills and the ability to turn complex financial data into clear messages
• Full professional proficiency in English (Danish is an advantage)

You don't need experience in power trading, but you should be eager to learn an industry where data, precision, and speed are central.
