Legal Counsel

Milestone is looking for a new Legal Counsel to support our business in delivering on our strategy.

Are you interested in working with contracts, technology, GDPR, and AI? Then come and join Milestone's Legal & Compliance team as our new Legal Counsel.

You will join a leading, global provider of video management software and will support our business while supporting our agenda for ethical tech and responsible use of technology.

Key Responsibilities

You will act as a legal business partner for our Product & Tech business unit as well as for our internal IT department. In addition, you will support our stand-alone business unit, BrighterAI, working with anonymization software.

In addition, you will support or drive various legal related projects as well as strategic initiatives run by the Milestone business.

The work will include the following:

• Legal Advisory: Providing legal advice, support and guidance on a wide range of topics, including AI Act, Data Act and GDPR.
• Contract Advisory and Support: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreements.
• Regulatory Interpretation: Interpreting laws and regulations relevant to the business and translating them into actionable internal policies or recommendations.
• Risk Identification: Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies in collaboration with business stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Acting as a trusted advisor to internal teams, ensuring legal considerations are integrated into business decisions.
• Training and Awareness: Developing and delivering training programs to promote awareness.
• External Collaboration: Engaging with regulators and external advisors as needed to support legal advisory efforts.
• Policy and Template Development and Maintenance: Supporting the creation and maintenance of internal legal policies, templates, and governance frameworks.
• Dispute Resolution Support: Assisting in the management of potential legal disputes, claims, or investigations, including coordination with external counsel when needed.

To succeed in the role, you must have:

• An academic legal background (Cand.Jur or Jur)
• Strong English language skills
• 1-3 years' working experience
• The competence to work both with individual deliverables and as a part of a team/project
• An eagerness to work in an international setting
• A keen interest in working with contracts, technology, IP, AI and GDPR and experience working with the same
• It is an advantage if you have experience working in or with the software industry
