About the Role

As a Data Engineer on the Engine team, you will be a vital contributor to building and optimizing the data infrastructure that powers all AudienceProject products. You will work on massive datasets, utilizing cloud-native technologies and cutting-edge data processing frameworks to ensure our data is clean, efficient, and ready for real-time applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Build:
    Architect, implement, and maintain highly scalable and fault-tolerant data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using technologies like Spark, Flink, or similar processing engines.
  • Scale:
    Optimize our core data ingestion and processing systems to handle growing volumes of real-time event data (currently petabytes and growing).
  • Infrastructure:
    Work with our cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) to deploy, manage, and scale data services, utilizing tools like Kubernetes and Terraform.
  • Quality & Reliability:
    Implement robust monitoring, alerting, and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and pipeline health.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (3+ years preferred) as a Data Engineer, Backend Engineer, or similar role focusing on large-scale data systems.

Required Skills

  • Programming:
    Strong proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Python or Scala, used for data processing.
  • Big Data Tech:
    Hands-on experience with modern Big Data frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Kafka) is essential.
  • Cloud:
    Experience working with a major cloud provider (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Database Skills:
    Solid understanding of both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Mindset:
    A strong problem-solving ability, an independent work ethic, and a passion for engineering excellence.

Preferred Skills

  • Stream processing (e.g., Apache Kafka, Kinesis, Flink).
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Ad-tech/Mar-tech data models or event-based systems.
