Facility manager for imaging core facility

At the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, we are looking for a facility manager with an academic background for our imaging core facility.

Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a full-time position starting 1 January 2026 or shortly thereafter.

Job description

As a facility manager, you will be responsible for both practical work at the microscopes and administrative tasks related to the facility.

Key tasks include:

  • Training new users on our different microscopes.
  • Maintenance and testing of the microscopes.
  • Assisting users with implementation of new methods
  • Assisting researchers in writing applications for new equipment
  • Contribute to the teaching related to bioimaging at the department
  • Manage the budget of the facility including budgeting and collection of user fees.
  • Maintain the homepage of the facility.

You will refer to the chairperson of the steering committee of the core facility – currently associate professor Magnus Kjærgaard.

Your profile

We expect that you have a background within high-end fluorescent imaging and imaging software. You should furthermore have organizational skills and be able to teach and communicate with the users of the imaging core in Danish and English. Candidates with experience from a similar position in a bioimaging core facility are strongly preferred. Furthermore, the successful candidate should have a solid understanding of the bioimaging needs and challenges of the largest user communities – mainly molecular plant biology, neuroscience and RNA biology.
