We are looking for a Backend Lead Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. This is a highly technical, hands-on role (90% coding, 10% leadership), where you'll both lead a team of backend engineers and actively contribute to the codebase. You'll help shape the architecture, guide best practices, and ensure the team delivers high-quality solutions.

Job Scope

  • Lead a backend team of 4 engineers while staying fully engaged in development

  • Architect and implement backend features and services (Python-based stack)

  • Work with technologies like PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Neo4j, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, product managers, and other engineers

  • Drive best practices in engineering, code quality, and testing

  • Help maintain a modern, scalable, and reliable infrastructure

  • Explore and model Danish real estate datasets to power valuable user insights

Ideal Candidate

  • 8+ years of backend development experience – preferably in Python or similar languages

  • Experience mentoring or leading technical teams (formal or informal)

  • Strong engineering mindset – pragmatic, product-aware, and collaborative

  • Comfortable in startup or scale-up environments (ideally 50–300 employees)

  • Autodidacts are welcome – proven ability matters more than titles

  • Fluent in Danish

  • Not a fit if you prefer high-structure enterprise environments – we work lean, fast, and close to the code
