Department of History and Classical Studies, School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University, is looking to recruit a student assistant (7 hours/week) for the period 1 January 2026 – 31 December 2026. The position is affiliated with Professor of Classical Archaeology and Art Rubina Raja's research projects: Locally Crafted Empires (LoCiS), Lost Cities Rediscovered (LoCi), and A Digital Archive Platform for Research on the Danish Inter-World War Archaeological Engagement in the Middle East.

Place of employment: Department of History and Classical Studies, Institute for Culture and Society, Aarhus University, Jens Chr. Skous Vej 5, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.

The position

The successful candidate is expected to assist Professor Rubina Raja on a number of tasks related to her various research projects, including:

  • Literature searches
  • Transcription
  • Database/archival work, e.g. organising data and documenting findings
  • Preparing materials for presentations, e.g. in Powerpoint
  • Webpage maintenance
  • Assisting with light administrative tasks, including conference organization and administrative support.

Qualifications

Applicants are expected to have the following qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Structured and efficient approach to tasks/problem-solving
  • Reliability when it comes to working hours and days
  • Practical sense
  • Good interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Enrolled in a relevant degree for the job, e.g. Archaeology, History or a related programme.

Applicants who can document experience from similar roles will have an advantage.

The position entails an average of 7 working hours/week; however, the distribution of working hours may vary.
