To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.Our researchThe position is part of the EC Horizon Europe project "ICELINK – Advancing Knowledge of North Atlantic Land ICE - LINKing Observations and Models" and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge center "PRECISE – Predicting Changes in Ice Sheets on Earth". These research projects have a focus on ice sheets in the climate system, and on understanding their mass loss and contribution to sea level change with research based on paleoclimatic data from ice cores, remote sensing and in situ data from glaciers and ice sheets, as well as ice flow modelling.The ICELINK and PRECISE projects are part of the section for Physics of Ice, Climate and Earth at the Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. The section includes research in ice core scienceand drilling, ice and climate modelling, geophysics and dynamical systems, and hosts a range of national and international research projects. The section has a dynamic and inclusive research environment with a large group of students and early career scientists.Your jobYou will work with development of ice core proxies and proxy-based synchronization of ice cores to different paleoclimatic archives using stratigraphic markers, between the Holocene and the last interglacial. The work involves laboratory-based geochemical research on ice cores as well as experimental techniques to improve/optimize methods to identify and measure particulate, aerosol and impurities. The research should address relations between volcanism and climate impacts with competencies demonstrated in techniques such as scanning electron microscopy coupled with EDS and EPMA or equivalent. You will further work with development of new ice core proxies based on environmental pollutants and organic matter in using ice cores, and you will contribute to fieldwork campaigns.Your work will also involve administrative and management tasks related to the ICELINK and PRECISE projects. Together with the PI and management teams of these projects, you will be responsible for day-to-day managing tasks, project reporting, tasks related to outreach and dissemination, internal communication, and organizing and contributing to scientific workshops and events.
