Hays are looking for a Freelance Senior Architect for our client, supporting the internal Manufacturing Technology Team.

The organization is transitioning away from SAP Galaxy, creating an opportunity to implement a new warehouse management system (WMS). This transition is not only a technical shift but also a chance to improve the user experience and operational efficiency.

Skills:

Service Design Expertise

  • Advanced skill in service blueprinting for multi-system, cross-channel processes, preferably experience doing this in enterprise or industrial settings
  • Ability to map frontstage/backstage activities, roles, systems, data flows, dependencies, and failure points.
  • Experience creating as-is and to-be service models for complex enterprise environments.
  • Ability to uncover real operational practices versus assumed/documented ones.
  • Strong synthesis skills for large, messy, multi-source datasets.

Technical Literacy

  • Understanding of enterprise systems.
  • Ability to interpret system diagrams, flowcharts, domain models, and integration maps.
  • Ability to translate technical constraints into service design decisions.

Systems Thinking & Complexity Handling

  • Ability to navigate and make sense of environments with legacy systems, integration layers, and parallel workflows.
  • Experience modelling operational, technical, and organizational dependencies.

Communication & Facilitation

  • Confident facilitating workshops across operational, technical, and product stakeholders.
  • Able to translate between warehouse language, system language, and design language.
  • Skilled at building shared understanding in cross-functional teams.

Soft Skills & Behaviours

  • Strong curiosity and intellectual stamina for deeply complex domains.
  • Calmness and clarity in ambiguous, high-stakes contexts.
  • Ability to ask sharp, naive questions and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Persistence in uncovering how processes truly work.
  • Empathy and active listening, especially toward warehouse workers and operational roles.
  • Collaborative mindset with technical teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with legacy system replacement or transformation programmes.
  • Prior exposure to SAP-integrated warehouse or logistics systems.
  • Hungarian or Czech language knowledge would be a welcome bonus (not necessary).

Start date: ASAP

Duration of contract: 3 months with option to extend

Location: Onsite Billund

Travel: There will also be some traveling to Kladno as part of the project scope
