Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark New Works Full time 84,000 - 114,000 per year

We are looking for our first Compliance & Sustainability Manager — a key role in shaping how we approach compliance and sustainability across our products and value chain.

At New Works, we create furniture, lighting, and objects defined by sculptural form, honest materials, and Scandinavian design traditions, and this role will help ensure we uphold these values throughout our processes. Here, you will be an integral member of both the development team and the sustainability team, working closely with colleagues from across the company. The role is based at the New Works main office, where you will report directly to the CPO.

About the Position

This is a new role, offering the opportunity to build a framework for product compliance from the ground up. The emphasis will be on compliance, and you will ensure our collections meet legal requirements and certifications, while also laying the data foundation that allows us to track, measure, and improve our sustainability performance — enabling New Works to move forward on our sustainability journey with clarity and ambition. The foundation for our sustainability strategy is in place, but you will help refine and shape it to meet the expectations of tomorrow's customers.

Tasks include:

  • Supporting the refinement of the sustainability strategy together with the Sustainability Specialist.
  • Ensuring New Works complies with relevant legislation and product requirements across markets.
  • Developing and implementing internal compliance and sustainability policies.
  • Building and managing the data foundation for compliance and sustainability, enabling robust reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Working closely with our design and product development teams to integrate compliance and sustainability into every new launch.
  • Defining and overseeing testing programs.
  • Managing certifications and coordinating with external testing and certification bodies.
  • Leading carbon footprint calculations and sustainability reporting.
  • Training and raising awareness internally across the organization.
  • You will report to the Chief Product Officer, and you will have a Sustainability Specialist reporting to you.

Your profile

Academic background in engineering, material science, sustainability, or similar.

Experience with compliance and product requirements, ideally within design, furniture, or manufacturing.

Understanding of materials and production processes in our industry.

Ability to translate legislation and sustainability frameworks into practical solutions.

Analytical mindset with strong skills in data collection and reporting.

A collaborative approach and motivation to build a new function in a growing company.

About New Works

New Works presents a collection at the intersection of old and new: light and dark, design and art. Our work pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality, while challenging the contemporary forms of today. We collaborate with an international group of designers and artisans who share a fascination with sculptural forms and honest materials. These collaborations reflect our love of the sensual and the bold.

Why Work at New Works

  • A full-time position in a dynamic international design company in growth. A positive and easy-going working environment, where entrepreneurial spirit, openness, influence, and co-responsibility shape our way of working. We offer great breakfast and lunch at Meyer's restaurant in the building, as well as flexible working hours and pension. You will also work in beautiful surroundings with friendly colleagues and good coffee.
  • The chance to shape New Works' compliance and sustainability efforts from the very beginning.
  • A central role in a small, dynamic team where design, materials, and craftsmanship are at the core.
  • A workplace where your work will directly impact how we create, certify, and communicate our products — and how we progress on our sustainability journey.

How to apply

Please send your CV along with a short introduction about yourself and why you are applying for the position to by 10 December. Present your documents in English or Danish. Please note that we only consider applications sent directly to — we do not review applications submitted via LinkedIn.
