Brøndbyvester, Denmark NOV Full time

JOB DESCRIPTIONAbout the roleJoin NOV's Smart Factory initiative and help build the digital backbone of our manufacturing operations. As a Digital Manufacturing Application Engineer, you will work at the intersection of automation (OT), data/MES, and user experience, turning raw machine and process data into intuitive tools that operators and engineers rely on every day.You will own the full lifecycle of factory-facing applications; from discovery and UI design through integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment, ensuring digital solutions are usable, secure, and maintainable in regulated production environments. You will translate production and quality needs into clear user stories and prototypes and application interfaces validate them with shop-floor stakeholders, and evolve them into robust applications that connect legacy equipment with modern platforms. This is a hands-on creative and autonomous role that combines software engineering, data integration, automation, process engineering, and a strong understanding of manufacturing workflows. A core part of the role is integrating signals from PLCs, sensors, historians, and AI models, and exposing them through real-time dashboards that support performance, quality, and decision-making. You will collaborate closely with MES, Data, and Automation teams to bridge shop-floor systems with enterprise services such as APIs, data pipelines, authentication, and audit.About the Company At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. It's a young, energetic, and collaborative environment where autonomy, curiosity, and experimentation are encouraged and where your work with state-of-the-art technologies will have a visible impact on how our factories operate.Key Responsibilities Design and develop front-end applications, dashboards, and interfaces that present real-time production data in a usable, actionable way. Build and test user-friendly tools for digital travelers, reporting, and documentation supporting process and quality digitalisation. Support integration of APIs and data services across shop-floor to enterprise (MES, historians, SCADA, data platforms). Support linking data from sensors, historians, and AI/ML/analytics developments to operator and engineering dashboards to drive performance and quality. Collaborate with Production, Quality, and IT/OT to deploy apps securely and reliably in factory environments. Document designs, data flows, and operating procedures; contribute to reusable components/standards for multi-site rollout.Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related. 4+ years' experience in full-stack development (Node.js, Python, .NET, or similar). Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular) and REST APIs / GraphQL. Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and data visualization (Power BI, Grafana, or custom dashboards). Knowledge of industrial protocols and constraints (MQTT, OPC UA, historian APIs) is a strong plus. Understanding of cybersecurity and network segmentation in manufacturing environments. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers from different domains. Exposure to industrial or IoT environments is an advantage, not a requirement - curiosity to learn is essential. Self-driven, organized, and comfortable with open-ended challenges. Agile mindset; comfortable with iterative, rapid development.Desired Qualifications Experience developing or deploying industrial or IIoT applications connecting shop-floor systems with cloud or enterprise platforms. Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or Smart Factory environments. Familiarity with historians (AVEVA, Ignition, PI) and industrial communication protocols (MQTT, OPC UA, REST APIs). Knowledge of containerization and DevOps tools (Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD). Interest in data analytics or AI/ML integration for process improvement or quality. Curiosity to learn about automation, sensors, and production workflows. Why Join Us?
