Job description
When considering applications for the part-time professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document original scientific work at the highest international level within the area of global mental health, particularly mental health of marginalized (, violence-affected) populations.

Global mental health, as a field of research and practice, is broadening its focus from more narrow clinical approaches to attention for the social determinants of mental health, mental health concerns beyond classified disorders, and prevention and promotion approaches across different cultural and geographical contexts. The field unites researchers and practitioners previously working in a variety of fields, including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in humanitarian settings. The University of Copenhagen has a portfolio of global mental health research, including research in humanitarian settings, mental health of refugees, multi-sectoral programming, and the prevention of suicide and self-harm, especially in low-resource settings. Given the focus of ongoing global mental health activities at the Department of Public Health, we are looking to hire a part-time professor with the ability to connect research activities across academic disciplines, and strengthen global mental health research and teaching. To this end, we are looking for a professor with an interest in public health and equity-focused approaches, with strong interdisciplinary skills. 

The responsibilities of the professor will primarily consist of:

Research, including publication/academic dissemination and participation in ongoing global mental health research at the department and university more widely, as well as applying for new grants in equitable partnership with academic and humanitarian partners in low-resource settings Research-based teaching, including associated examination in global health in the Bachelors and Masters of Science in Public Health, Masters of Science in Global Health, Masters of Disaster Management and Master of Science in Medicine Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of current global mental health researchers in the Section of Global Health, MESU and other relevant units at the Department of Public Health and the university more widely Obligation to share knowledge with the society at large, including participation in public debate Academic assessments

Required qualifications
Six overall criteria apply for professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. Furthermore, each applicant must be able to document:

High degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development and standing of the field of global mental health Documented research experience in the field of mental health in low-resource settings Management of research and other functions, , as well as knowledge and technology transfer across the boundaries of academic disciplines and practice/policy sectors Provision of research-based teaching within the field of global mental health

The professor is also required to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Terms of employment
The position is a permanent and the average weekly working hours are 29,6 hours per week.

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
