Job overview:

Acts as globally recognized subject matter expert in structural design of functional food ingredients derived from seaweeds. Focuses on the identification, development, and implementation of new research areas with the potential to generate significant commercial value to both customers and IFF. Influences business, customer, and research strategies. Demonstrates scientific creativity resulting in significant methods, patents, products, processes, and internal/external collaborations driving the IFF enterprise. Leads teams and global projects of larger size for commercial success with our customers through a purpose-led focus on people, market-driven innovation, and planetary sustainability.

Responsibilities: 

Leadership

Builds and leads motivated teams of both direct and functional reports, integrates diverse talents, and fosters team members to excel and achieve breakthrough results. Manages large projects, programs, or initiatives across organizations. Leads resource and research planning, monitors execution to accomplish goals, and communicates impact and consequences of significant changes to stakeholders. Acts as SME consultant to overall R&D, business partners, and customers in area of Seaweeds expertise and technology strategy. Engages team, stakeholders and leadership in planning and achieving strategic focus objectives. Mentors and behaves as role model to all levels within the organization.

Customer engagement

Leads external customer collaborations in relevant projects and is recognized by our global customers as SME through engagement on customer-related matters. Engages internal and external stakeholders to define market opportunities, develops research strategy accordingly, and gains agreement for ultimate plan.

Innovation & technology

Main contributor to development of new, executable concepts aligned with key business strategy and anchored in our overall IFF Sustainability goals.  Generates and champions breakthrough technologies with significant commercial impact on IFF and anchored in our overall IFF Sustainability goals. Seeks to continuously improve individual and team expertise to ensure IFF’s leading-edge position in science & technology. Contributes to external scientific literature and conferences via peer reviewed papers, presentations, and patents. Provides scientific reports and perspectives to influence global strategic technology decisions.

Job Requirements

• PhD with minimum 9 years or equivalent experience in related industrial role. 
• Sufficient time in previous role to demonstrate mastery of responsibilities with documented significant contributions.
